In 2024, I was brought on board to design the mobile referral program for Walbi, an AI-powered crypto trading platform.
I took their pre-defined mechanics and turned them into a clean, intuitive end-to-end user experience that balances business goals with a fun, rewarding interface.
Crafting a Two-Sided Journey
Walbi needed a referral system that balanced business goals with a great mobile UX. A good referral loop has to feel rewarding for both sides:
For "Recruits", I designed an onboarding flow that welcomed them with a bonus voucher first, keeping the path to registration short.
For "Recruiters", I built a live activity hub where they could easily track invite progress, $1,000 trading targets, and countdowns on a single screen without feeling overwhelmed.

Standout Details & Unboxing
To make sharing more engaging than a plain text link, users could customize shareable posters with QR codes.

When a recruit hit their trading milestone, the experience culminated in opening an interactive reward box, built as a flexible container to support various prize types over time.

Walbi already had an established dark-mode system, so I infused a vibrant promotional feel using 3D gift icons and badges without breaking the brand.
Skipping low-fidelity wireframes, I moved straight into high-fi mockups, refining the whole system in four fast iterations alongside the PM and writing microcopy for every edge state.
This project was a great lesson in execution: taking a feature with lots of moving parts, fitting dynamic data into tight mobile real estate and delivering a polished product feature that felt completely native to the Walbi app.
